La historia de Asia Central ha recalcado por el clima y la geografía. La aridez de la región hace dificil la práctica de la agricultura. En consecuencia solo se han formado unas pocas ciudades de gran tamaño, y el área estuvo dominada por los pueblos nómadas de la estepa.

Las relaciones entre los nómadas de la estepa y la población sedentaria de Asia Central fueron durante mucho tiempo dificiles. El estilo de vida nómada se adaptaba muy bien a la práctica de la guerra y los jinetes de la estepa fueron uno de los pueblos con mayor potencial militar. Muchas tribus quedaron bajo el control de grandes líderes, crearon ejércitos casi imparables, como en los ataques Wu Hu a China y sobre todo la conquista de Eurasia por los mongoles.

The history of Central Asia stressed by climate and geography. The aridity of the region makes it difficult to practice agriculture. Consequently only been formed a few large cities, and the area was dominated by the nomadic peoples of the steppe. 

Relations between the steppe nomads and the sedentary population of Central Asia were long difficult time. The nomadic lifestyle was well suited to the practice of war and the horsemen of the steppe were one of the towns most military potential. Many tribes were under the control of great leaders, created armies almost unstoppable, like the Wu Hu attacks on China and especially the conquest of Eurasia by the Mongols
